Incandescent light: Lighting found in some restaurants and hotel ballrooms. This lighting casts red undertones. Because this light is dimmer, softer and rosier, makeup must be applied in stronger and more intense, richer hues to show up and not appear washed out.
The camera is most sensitive to reds and blues. It emphasizes red blotches in an uneven skin tone, or makes ruddy complexions even redder. Dark circles under your eyes are even more pronounced in photographs.

You should have your gown and hairstyle selected before you choose a headpiece.
Make sure you wear a button-down shirt when you have your makeup done. That way, you wont have to pull your shirt over your head and take the chance of messing up your makeup or hair.
Make sure you relieve the stress that will naturally mount as your day gets closer. Try walking 20-30 minutes daily. This will relieve stress and get you into shape. After exercising for a few weeks, you will notice a positive change in your body and spirit.
Drink plenty of water, especially the week before your wedding. It flushes out toxins and helps you lose body fat. Your makeup will also look its best if your skin is hydrated. Try to get as much rest as possible, too.

If you plan to tan, remember to cover your face. Tanning the face will make the skin dry, dull and wrinkled. Bronzers and darker foundations can be used to match the body.
Get your last facial two weeks prior to your wedding day.
Wax eyebrows a few days before to prevent redness/bumpiness on your day.
Get a manicure the day before and artificial nails put on a day or so before, especially if you’ve never had long nails previously. This will give you time to get used to them.
Decide whether you will be having color and/or black and white photography. If you will be having black and white, stay away from blue-reds, and you will need some extra contouring. A professional makeup artist will know this.
Go through magazines to help you decide how you want your makeup to look before meeting with your makeup artist or before purchasing makeup. Bring photos from those magazines with you to the cosmetic counter or to your pre-wedding trial.
If you would prefer to do your own wedding makeup, do have a wedding makeup lesson by a professional three to nine months before your day. This will give you time to practice and it will also allow you enough time to book a professional if you decide that your skills are not up for the big day.
Purchase the lipstick and lipliner you will be using for that day and keep it with you in your purse for touch-ups.
For waterproof eyes, wear waterproof mascara, eyeshadow base and eyeliner sealant. For kiss-proof lips, use a sealant over your lipstick.
Use plenty of powder to avoid a shiny face during flash photography. Powder from your hairline to your dress line.
Curling your lashes will make your eyes appear larger and more open.
Think about having your eyebrows shaped professionally, as they frame your eyes and add balance to your face.
Use eyebrow pencil, as eyebrows seem to get lost in photographs. Fill them in, using a color similar to your natural color. This will give them definition.
Don’t overconceal...apply in light layers and never go too light. If you go too light, the flash from the camera will be reflected and make you look like you have a white mask around your eyes. One shade lighter than foundation is the rule.
Use neutral eyeshadow colors. Soft bone, soft white under the brow works as a highlighter; soft browns, taupes, grays in the crease will add depth. If you do use color, don’t match your eyeshadow to your eye color. Choose contrasting colors to make your eye color stand out and pop.
